GISCO COBRA CUT FAMILY
The coated wire electrode series COBRA CUT® was developed with AGIE for EDM
machines. They are suitable for a number of different machine models and for
practical applications.
|
Gisco Cobra Cut
Soft Brass Core/Tensile Strength 70,000 psi
These zinc-coated wire electrodes were initially produced for AGIE for their
first AC machines. Due to its elongation, it is particularly suitable for
high tapering. It has a limited suitability for machine models with
automatic water-jet threading. |
Gisco Cobra Cut A
Hard Brass Core/Tensile Strength 130,000 psi
This hard, zinc-coated wire electrode is especially suitable for machines
with automatic threaders. Due to its excellent straightness and precision,
it guarantees very good surface qualities and allows precision cuts and fine
detail with the highest reliability in automatic operations (particularly
with .003", .004" and .006" diameter wires). With this wire, steep taper
cuts are possible only to a limited extent, except on the following AGIE
machine models for which it is specified: AC 100, 200, 300, 100D, 200D and
300D. |
Gisco Cobra Cut B
Soft/Tensile Strength 65,000 psi
The special CuMg core of this electrode provides high electrical
conductivity. Its rougher, oxidized surface benefits flushing conditions and
is advantageous for the cutting of tall work pieces (>4"). Recommended for
fast cutting of graphite and aluminum alloys. This wire is suitable for
tapering to 20o, but has limited capability for skim cutting and automatic
wire threading. It is specified for the following AGIE models: AC 100, 200,
300, 100D, 200D and 300D. |
Gisco Cobra Cut D
˝ Hard/Tensile Strength 115,000 psi
This wire electrode has been developed for EDM machines with high-power
generators. It has a high thermal and electrical conductivity due to its
special coating. It consists of two CuZn alloys (brass-on-brass), and is
therefore suitable for speed cutting as well as for precision contour
cutting. It can be used on machines with automatic threading. Tapered cuts
(>7°) are possible only to a limited extent, except on the following AGIE
machine models for which this wire is specified: AC 100D, 200D, and 300D. |
Gisco Cobra Cut S
˝ Hard/Hard Brass Core/Tensile Strength 115,000 psi
This wire electrode guarantees highest cutting rates on the latest
high-power EDM machines. As an improvement of the COBRA CUT® Type D, the
thicker diffusion coat provides better cutting performance. It is most
suitable for use in high-volume production EDM, tool and die making, and for
thick workpieces. It is suitable for automatic threading and is specified
for AGIE AC Sprint machines. |
Gisco Cobra Cut W
Soft/Tensile Strength 62,700 psi
This diffusion-annealed wire is designed to deliver the high productivity of
Cobra® Cut D with the high elongation of BercoCut 390 wire. Suitable to
taper cuts up to 45°. |
GISCO TOPAS FAMILY
TOPAS® is the first gamma phase wire from Berkenhoff which can be
universally used on all standard EDM machines and achieves excellent cutting
rates with high precision and surface quality. Economical production
processes demand ever increasing removal rates. Our new TOPAS® electrodes
meet these most exacting requirements thanks to their special coating. They
cut up to 50% faster than plain wires.
In comparison with "hot-dipped" wires, the TOPAS® EDM wires achieve a
significantly higher cutting rate. They also offer better fine finishing
characteristics compared to diffusion annealed wires. And so the major
performance criteria are met without compromise: high precision at fast
cutting rates with high surface quality at the workpiece. |
Gisco Topas S
Soft/Tensile strength 70,000 psi
TOPAS® S is especially suited for taper cutting with reliable edge-finding. |
Gisco Topas H
Hard/Tensile strength 115,000 psi
With its high tensile strength, type H is particularly suited for machines
which require straightened wires for threading. A crucial advantage is the
universal usability of the TOPAS® EDM wires on all conventional EDM machines
with existing standard technologies. This allows considerable performance
advantages without involving extra time and costs for reprogramming. |
GISCO BRONCO CUT FAMILY
This coated EDM wire series BRONCO CUT® was initially developed for the
special application on Charmilles Technologies EDM machines, it also meets
the particular threading requirements of this manufacturer. The manufacturer
of Charmilles is introducing this type series on the market with the
identification "SW-....". |
Gisco Bronco Cut
Soft/Tensile strength 65,000 psi
This zinc-coated copper EDM wire is designed for compatibility with the
annealing and calibration devices of earlier Charmilles machines. These are
Charmilles F series machines (420, 430, 431 and 453) Charmilles CH series
machines (452, 552) and Andrew machines. This wire can be used on these
machines for various applications; however, they are suitable for precision
cutting only to a limited extent. |
Gisco Bronco Cut X
Soft/Tensile 72,000 psi
This high-performance, multipurpose EDM wire with a special zinc-rich
coating is suitable for precision cutting as well as high-speed cutting.
Excellent automatic threading reliability except for the following
Charmilles machines Robofil 100 and 1000 series. Taper cutting (>7°) only to
a limited degree. |
GISCO MEGACUT FAMILY
This electrode type MEGACUT® was especially developed for Japanese EDM
machines. |
Gisco MegaCut A
Hard/Tensile strength 130,000 psi
In small diameters (.003" - .008"), this zinc-coated precision wire is
suitable for cuts with tight corner radii. It offers high cutting rates and
performs well in critical applications (for example, in tungsten carbide
alloys). The wire has excellent manual and automatic threading capabilities.
Taper cutting (>7°) is only possible to a limited degree. This wire is in
compliance with Mitsubishi EDMs. This wire is used when fine surfaces are
required, it is also recommended when cutting carbides and poly-crystalline
diamond. |
Gisco MegaCut HS
˝ Hard/Tensile strength 115,000 psi
This electrode is suited for the high-power generators of the latest
machines and offers maximum cutting rates, making it ideal for high-speed
productions. Type HS has a thicker coating than Type D in order to
compensate for the increased consumption of the electrode during high speed
cutting. Due to its straightness, the wire is especially suited for machines
with automatic threading and was specifically designed for the Mitsubishi HA
and U series Wire EDMs. |
Gisco MegaCut W
Soft/Tensile strength 62,700 psi
This type has the highest elongation of the MEGACUT® series. The "soft"
electrode allows steep tapering. The special coating can resist thermal
loads arising from poor flushing conditions. Suitable for taper cuts up to
45°. |
Gisco MegaCut D
˝ Hard/Tensile strength 115,00 psi
Due to its special coating, this electrode is ideal for speed cutting,
providing the highest performance. This wire is also recommended for tall
workpieces, interrupted cuts and poor flushing conditions. For taper cutting
(>7°), this wire is suitable only to a limited extent. Type D wire complies
with Mitsubishi EDMs. |
Gisco MegaCut T
Soft/Tensile strength 70,000 psi
This wire electrode is similar to MEGACUT® Type A but has reduced hardness,
making it perfectly suitable for high tapering requirements. Because of this
increased tapering capability, this wire will have limited automatic
threading capability. It is a soft zinc coated brass wire for machines with
round diamond guides. |
